Kochi University Technology (KUT) 2023 Special Scholarship Program for Doctoral Students

Kochi University Technology (KUT) 2023 Special Scholarship Program for Doctoral Students

Brief Description: Kochi University of Technology (KUT) was established in 1997, originally as a private university. The Kochi prefectural government founded it, ambitiously setting KUT’s sights on becoming a world-class university through the pursuit of unique excellence. KUT’s revolutionary design, introducing innovations never before seen in universities in Japan, contributed greatly to the development of university education. Despite its relatively small scale, KUT has had a strong presence with its distinctive character and progressive education system.

The Special Scholarship Program (SSP) was established in 2003 to support the university’s advanced research by enlisting the help of highly capable students, especially students from foreign countries. Every year in April and October, the university enrolls selected doctoral students for specific research projects. The students pursue the doctoral course in English (excl. Japanese students) while at the same time assisting their host professor as a research assistant (RA). Through this program, KUT wishes to expand and deepen international ties with academic and educational institutions all over the world. Each SSP student must bear in mind that they would work a minimum of 50 hours per month for a specific research project, and must report his/her research achievements and study to the dean of the Graduate School of Engineering at the end of each semester which will be evaluated by the dean of the Graduate School of Engineering
